The Thanksgiving Tree

Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite holidays and it really bugs me that it often gets skipped over to begin the Christmas rush. Several years ago I decorated a Christmas tree that was auctioned off to raise money for the children's hospital. I love decorating and it was so much fun to be able to go all out and spend someone else's money. And it was for a great cause! Anyway, it was such a busy time that I decided to put up one of our trees at home early but not decorate it until after Thanksgiving. (yes, it's Arizona and we have artificial trees and yes, we put up several in our house). The kids kept bringing home so many cute Thanksgiving decorations and I was running out of wall space so they started hanging things on the tree. That year began our Thanksgiving tree tradition. We fill our small tree in the family room with the cute artwork they've brought home and also add some dried fruit, leaves, corn, and other fall stuff. The kids and I love it and Greg just rolls his eyes and insists that no matter how much stuff we add to it, it's still a Christmas tree.

This is our first Holiday season with Pebble's and she's definitely on the top of our list of things to be thankful for this year! She's sure that we created this beautiful spot just for her.
Another fun tradition of ours is the Thanksgiving table cloth. Every year that we're home on Turkey day we put the table cloth on and every one having dinner with us has to write down something they're thankful for with the date. Gotta love Sharpie's.
It's especially fun to look back and read what the kids have written and remember family visits.

What a cute idea! I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and it is sad that it tends to get skipped over.

Kim I love your ideas. Thanksgiving is Steve's favorite holiday because it typically involves family and food, what more could you want? Love the table cloth - what a rockin mom you are! Love you, Lynn
